SCHOOL LUNCH
SUCCESS STORY

The Saint Johns Middle School completed the HSAT in 2006 with a full Coordinated School Health Team present. At the beginning of the 2006-07 school years, the following changes were implemented by the Director of Food Service throughout the district:

* Wheat bread on all sandwiches instead of white bread
* Wheat hot dog buns and multi grain hamburger buns
* The ala carte area and vending machines were switched to all healthy snacks, as suggested criteria from the Michigan Action For Health Kids.
* The bulk ranch dressing on the condiment table was removed and only a ranch cup is given to those students that choose salad.
* Fat free or Lite Ranch dressing in a packet is available if the student chooses salad from the salad bar.
* Only a small size cinnamon roll is offered in the deli area

Our goal is to offer only healthy choices to our students throughout the district!
