SCHOOL LUNCH
SUCCESS STORY

Our School Health Team/Committee consisted of: School Administration (Principal), Nutrition Services (Food Service Director and Food Service Employee), Physical Education Teacher, and Classroom Teacher.

Over the last month here at Webberville Elementary School we have been making changes in what products we use for school meals. The elementary school food department has eliminated cookies on the ala carte menu, changed to baked chips, use 100% fruit snacks, and we sell reduced fat ice cream once a week. The only ala carte drinks we sell are 300ml water bottles and reduced fat milk.

Webberville Elementary School has made changes over several years, using reduced fat cheeses and dressings. Whole wheat breads, fresh fruit and vegetables are offered at each lunch period, and we serve legumes at least once a week.

Our school has taken big steps to improve and serve nutritious meals at Webberville Elementary School. The students have had no problem adjusting to the changes. One student said “the bread tastes like it has sugar in it” because it is whole wheat.
