EDUCATION FOR STAFF, STUDENTS AND FAMILIES ABOUT ASTHMA SUCCESS STORY
We realized that all of the staff needed to be trained in the signs of a student having trouble with asthma. The stakeholders were most interested in asthma. Several years ago we lost one of our 6th graders to an asthma / allergic reaction. Knowing the triggers will help all of us possibly prevent such a tragic situation from happening again.
This is the first year we have been able to train all our stakeholders including; transportation, aides, lunchroom personnel, staff, and secretaries. Lake Fenton Schools did our training as part of a professional development day. The American Lung Association came in and trained the stakeholders.
We now have asthma emergency signs in each classroom and on each bus and where ever students might be. We are currently trying to get funds to purchase an inhaler for each of our 4 buildings and an extra one for our athletic department.
