SCHOOL BREAKFAST SUCCESS STORY
A year ago, very few high school students took advantage of school breakfast before the school day. With a 10-minute break between the first and second classes of the day I decided to move breakfast into the hallway at 9:30. Since the inception of the breakfast carts we have gone from about 20 breakfasts served per day to 110+ breakfasts served per day. Our healthy breakfasts have become so popular with students that they avoid vending machine snacks and choose a nutritious breakfast, instead.
We added 1/2 hour per day to one cook and two others join her in the hallway to serve. In addition, a person from our Buisness Office assists. Her "pay" is a school breakfast.
